Picross Online
Picross is another name for nonograms, made popular by handheld video games. The rules are the same: numbers beside each row and above each column tell you the lengths of the filled blocks in that line, and solving them reveals a picture.
This page opens a 10×10 picross puzzle. You can switch to 5×5 or 15×15 in the menu, or play today's daily puzzle on the homepage.
Picross rules in brief
- Each number is a block of filled cells.
- Blocks appear in the order given.
- There's at least one empty cell between blocks.
- When every clue is satisfied, the picture is complete.
Picross, nonogram, griddlers – what's the difference?
There isn't one in the puzzle itself. "Picross" (picture crossword) became popular through video games, "nonogram" is named after Japanese puzzle setter Non Ishida, and "griddlers" and "hanjie" are names used in puzzle magazines. All describe the same logic puzzle.
